Levi & Korsinsky, LLP is investigating potential antitrust claims against Chesapeake Energy Corp., Chesapeake Exploration, LLC, SandRidge Energy Corp., and Tom L. Ward (“Defendants”) arising out of an alleged conspiracy to rig bids and depress the market for purchases of oil and natural gas leasehold interests and working interests.
The conspiracy commenced on or about 12/27/07 and continued until at least 3/31/12 (the “Class Period”). Defendants’ conduct resulted in a March 2016 criminal indictment against a former Chesapeake executive. The purpose of the conspiracy was to suppress the prices that defendants paid to acquire certain leasehold interests and working interests on lands located in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas by eliminating competition between Chesapeake and SandRidge for the purchase of such interests.
If you (1) sold your leasehold or working interest on lands within the Anadarko Basin Region with no producing oil and gas wells to Defendants or others or (2) owned tracts of land within that region with producing oil and gas wells and Defendants or others purchased such land’s leaseholds or working interests during the Class Period, our investigation may matter to you.
